2. The Freedom Tower

Phineas Paist designed this 1928 Mediterranean Revival building at 405 Biltmore Way with a semi-circular colonnade, Spanish barrel tile roof, and clock tower that chimes every fifteen minutes. It remains the city's government center after nearly a century of continuous use.

6. The Fontainebleau

Morris Lapidus opened this Miami Beach landmark at 4441 Collins Avenue in 1954. The "Stairway to Nowhere" and distinctive "cheese hole" facade influenced hotel design worldwide. Frank Sinatra, Elvis, and the Rat Pack performed here, and James Bond visited in "Goldfinger." A $1 billion renovation completed in 2008.

7. The Deering Estate

Charles Deering built this 1922 estate at 16701 SW 72nd Avenue in Palmetto Bay (formerly Cutler). The Mediterranean Revival complex sits on 444 acres with natural pine rockland, mangroves, and archaeological sites dating back 10,000 years. 8. The Alfred I. duPont Building

Marsh and Saxelbye designed this 17-story Art Deco tower at 169 East Flagler Street, which opened in 1939 as the Florida National Bank headquarters. The ornate lobby features stunning brass elevator doors, terrazzo floors, and a ceiling mural depicting Florida's history. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

9. The Miami Marine Stadium

Hilario Candela designed this 1963 folded-plate concrete structure at 3501 Rickenbacker Causeway in Key Biscayne. The first purpose-built stadium for powerboat racing, it seats 6,566 spectators in a 326-foot-wide grandstand cantilevered over the water. Closed since Hurricane Andrew in 1992, restoration efforts continue.
